So the quarter finals went pretty much according to plan with the favourites going through whilst Italy edged the closest match on penalties. Ronaldo proved to be too much for the Czechs to handle, grabbing the vital goal towards the end and Germany created countless chances against Greece to secure their spot in the final four. Spain controlled the game against France who rarely threatened and Pirlo was given the time and space to dictate play in their match against England. With the quick round-up out of the way, it’s on to the Euro 2012 SEMI FINALS:
SPAIN vs PORTUGAL (Wednesday 27th June, 19:45 ko)
This game will follow a similar pattern to Spain’s previous matches with Spain dominating possession whilst Portugal look to counter. With Ronaldo, Moutinho and Nani, Portugal could very well make Spain pay if given the opportunity but Spain will do their utmost to put Ronaldo off his stride. He is looking incredibly confident and will be eyeing up the golden boot as well as a spot in the final. Whether he can achieve that will depend on how clinical Portugal are with the ball, Spain will control most of the game and will be confident of progressing, given the talent they have.
Portuguese Players to Consider: Ronaldo, Moutinho, Coentrao, Pepe
Spanish Players to Consider: Iniesta, Alonso, Silva, Jordi Alba
GERMANY vs ITALY (Thursday 28th June, 19:45 ko)
It will be a tough ask for Italy to progress, they are a decent side but they are not as strong as Germany. Italy also played 2 days later and have had to play extra time against England. All this adds to a Germany victory and fantasy managers should look to stock up on their players. It remains to be seen who will start up top but we fancy Gomez to get the nod after being rested against the Greeks. Another doubt is Schweinsteiger but the latest reports seem to indicate that they are hopeful he will be able to start. For more certainty and a must have, Ozil is your man, he is the creative force who will look to unlock the Italian defence. To make matters worse, De Rossi, Chiellini and Abate are all fitness doubts. If Italy are to achieve anything, they will need Pirlo and Balotelli to be at the top of their game to get pass this German side.
Italian Players to Consider: Balotelli, Pirlo
German Players to Consider: Gomez, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Muller, Hummels, Lahm
