Just in case you weren’t aware, IT’S BACK!! Yep that’s right, the game we love more than sunshine has returned. No one cares about the weather anymore, we don’t have time for BBQs or going out hunting for Pokemon. It’s time to lock ourselves away in a darkened room and wait patiently for any scrap of information from pre-season, whilst we analyse opening fixtures and player values.
We all know that if you look hard enough, that amazing combination we’re all searching for will present itself. It’s there we promise you and we’re going to find it!
We’re in for one hell of a season. Let’s take Manchester for starters…
The Red Side
Van Gaal was finally given the boot and the Special One has arrived. He wasted no time in making his mark, having brought in Bailly, Mkhitaryan and Zlatan over the summer. Whether Bailly (5.5m) slots straight in remains to be seen but Mkhitaryan (9.5m) and Ibrahimovic (11.5m) are guaranteed starters in a tasty looking forward line alongside Martial (9.5m) and Rooney (9m).
United will have to contend with Thursday night action at some point but Mourinho will play his best players from the start to ensure the beginning of his Old Trafford reign gets off to a cracker. We’ll learn more from the upcoming Community Shield game against Leicester (Sunday 7th August – 16:00 GMT).
The Blue Side
As we all know, Guardiola has made his long-awaited entrance to the Premier League by taking charge of City and is set to renew his rivalry with Mourinho. The most sought after coach in world football is now part of Fantasy Premier League and points should rain down accordingly.
It should come as no surprise that Aguero is the most expensive player of the game at 13m but it’s a price that many of us will be willing to pay. Aguero’s a deadly striker and if given the service Guardiola expects from his midfield, goals are sure to arrive.
Then There’s The Rest..
This is set to be one of the most unpredictable title races ever. One team we fancy here at Fantasy Football Addict is Chelsea. We’ve seen in recent seasons how a lack of European football can seriously boost a team challenging for the title with Liverpool coming incredibly close whilst Leicester went one step further shocking the football world.
Chelsea were awful last season but in Conte, they have one of the best managers in the game. Expect a different side this campaign and if Hazard (10m) can find that spark once more, he is more than capable of dispatching teams on his own. Kante is a terrific signing and is sure to shield the backline, helping Chelsea to grind out clean sheets and inspire counter attacks.
These are just 3 of the title challengers, and we can’t rule out Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and possibly Leicester for the romantics out there.
All of this means we have to decide which teams do we think are going to start the strongest and which of their players will be the highest points scorers. It’s not going to be easy but a wise man once said “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”.
