Despite scoring just a single goal in the last 7 games, Mahrez finished comfortably at the top of the Fantasy Premier League standings:
- Mahrez (240 pts) – 17 goals, 11 assists, 38 bonus
- Vardy (211 pts) – 24 goals, 8 assists, 30 bonus
- Kane (211 pts) – 25 goals, 3 assists, 33 bonus
- Ozil (200 pts) – 6 goals, 19 assists, 30 bonus
- Lukaku (185 pts) – 18 goals, 7 assists, 25 bonus
We all know goalscoring midfielders are fantasy football gold and Mahrez’s exploits fired himself and Leicester to the very top in the 2015/16 season.
He kicked off the campaign with 4 goals in his first 3 games before accruing plenty more and setting up others in the lead up to the January transfer window.
At the halfway mark of the season, Ranieri clearly changed his tactics as Leicester went on the defensive to an incredible effect, keeping 14 clean sheets from 19 games. This minimised Mahrez’s attacking returns but every time he did score, he achieved no less than 9 points.
By the end of the season, he was head and shoulders above the rest and it was a campaign to savour…
