The Opening Fixtures Smile On United

If you want to succeed in Fantasy Premier League, you must study the fixtures like a fantasy nerd. Teams will have great runs over the course of the season and you have to be prepared for these, bringing in the best before their inevitable price rises. Staying one step ahead is key if you want to prove to your mates just who is the football king!

A Start Designed For Redemption

Looking at the fixtures that kick off this season, there’s one clear winner in Manchester United. Perhaps they took pity on the fallen champions or maybe it’s just the rub of the green but United have a start to dream of. With so many top sides in the league, they have managed to avoid any of the top 7 teams in their first 6 matches.

Van Gaal has already mentioned how he’s got his work cut out fixing this ‘broken’ team but the Dutchman seems like a man who doesn’t suffer fools gladly and we’re backing him to have United well drilled by August 16th. They are having to learn a new system and are still short of an experienced centre back but in Mata (9m), Rooney (10.5m) and RVP (12.5m), they have a trio that could punish the backline of any of the above.

Given the great fixture run, you may want to double up on two of the players above. There’s every chance they could come emerge from the opening fixtures with a bagful of points and a higher pricetag. Investment in United’s backline could also be profitable but the signing of an experienced centre back would prove to be even more convincing than the current options of Jones, Smalling and Evans.

With all of this in mind, you’ll want 2 or the maximum 3 United players in your starting 11 and you can build the rest of your squad around this foundation. With no other top side experiencing such a favourable run, it makes the decision all the more simpler. Here at Fantasy Football Addict, we’re backing United to return with a bang, signalling their intent to challenge for the title this season.
